As Premier League watcher, Attacking Midfielder used the summer break to get a break myself. Now the pre-season is well underway it’s time to start blogging about my favourite league in the world. The transfer window is closing in two weeks, so the most teams are very active trying to get their squad on the level required for a good performance this season. In this post I give some names of Premier League players to watch this season. I won’t go for the obvious names of established players, but I will only look at newcomers in the competition.
Premier League players to watch this season
Alireza Jahanbakhsh – Brighton and Hove Albion
The Iranian winger comes from the Dutch Eredivisie, so I have seen him play a lot for AZ Alkmaar and I believe this guy has everything a wingers needs to make it in the Premier League. He will be 25 when the league starts and has a lot of experience. He played in the Europa League and battle for the title in the Dutch Eredivisie. Jahanbakhsh is a pacy winger with a very gifted right foot. He is an old skool right winger in the style of David Beckham, so he doesn’t necessarily needs to pass his winger to deliver a good cross. A striker like Glenn Murray will benefit by playing with Jahanbakhsh, since he will be at the end of a lot of crosses.
Mattéo Guendouzi – Arsenal
Mattéo Guendouzi moved in the summer from Lorient to Arsenal. This is probably another brilliant discovery by Sven Mislintat, who proved to have an eye for talented players. I’ve been watching Arsenal’s pre-season match againt Paris Saint-Germain and the young Frenchman caught my eye. I can’t recall him doing anything wrong. He passes the ball to who he needs to pass it. This is a typical Arsenal type of player. He has all the potential to be one of the big stars in Emery’s squad. It’s going to be very interesting to see how he will develop during the course of this season.
