The Premier League is without a doubt the best league in the world. Where else can you name 6 teams that go for the title before the start of the season? With so many big teams, there is always an interesting match during a Premier League weekend. Therefore I always write about my match of the week (MOTW). This weekend is the MOTW Manchester City versus Chelsea.
MOTW Manchester City versus Chelsea line-ups
Ederson, Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, Aymeric Laporte, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ilkay Gundogan, David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero.
Thibaut Courtois, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso, Victor Moses, Eden Hazard, Willian, Danny Drinkwater and Pedro.
As expected it was Man City who dominated this match from the beginning. Chelsea really was the team that needed the three points the most, but they never showed attacking intentions. At the end of the first half the ball possession statistics showed 73% for the home team. The biggest surprise of the first half was that Man City failed to score a goal.
The second half was a few second old when David Silva managed to find Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese Silva scored the opener for Man City. This goal should be the signal for the Blues to try and attack a little bit more, but surprisingly they didn’t seem to want to attack. It was so poor what the away team showed, that they never deserved anything else than a defeat. Worst thing was the action of their manager. He decided to bring Morata for Hazard in the 89th minute of this match His record singing striker only got 2 minutes and some extra time to score a goal.
Based on yesterday’s performance I hope Chelsea will stay out of the top 4 for the rest of this weekend.
