European Quarter finals

Champions League round of 16 part 1

A lot of people are waiting for this moment for a long time. Tomorrow is the day the Champions League will start again. In this post I will give my preview on the English teams that will play this week. Read my preview on the Champions League round of 16 part 1 below.

Champions League round of 16 part 1

Tottenham Hotspur
The Spurs start this round of 16 with an away match against Juventus. Tottenham caused a shock by finishing first in the group with Real Madrid. They drew away in Madrid and won their match at Wembley. This is probably the best moment in recent years to play against Juventus. The Old Lady is for the first time in years not that invincible in the Serie A as the last few years. I think this is going to be a very close battle between two good teams. I give Tottenham a good chance if the manage to get a goal in Turin and don’t concede too much.

Manchester City
The Citizens probably have one of the best draws in the round of 16. The will play against Fc Basel. Man City had a very good run in the group stage. They won their first five matches and only lost the last one after the first place was already in their hands. I don’t see any problems for them in this round. They should be able to win the away match and give themselves a good position for the return.

The last English team to play their CL round of 16 match this week is Liverpool. They will go to Portugal and face Porto on Wednesday. Liverpool had a descent group stage with three wins and three draws. Porto finished second behind Besiktas in their group with RB Leipzig and Monaco. I believe Liverpool’s attacking force is going to be too strong for Porto. The away match will probably end in a small victory for Liverpool or a draw. The return at Anfield will seal the deal for the Reds.

Which match in this Champions League round of 16 part 1 are you looking forward to the most?
