MOTW Tottenham Hotspur versus Arsenal

MOTW Tottenham Hotspur versus Arsenal

The match of this weekend was scheduled as the first match on Saturday. In this post I look back at the MOTW Tottenham Hotspur versus Arsenal. Read this post and find out how I experienced this match between both North-London giants.

MOTW Tottenham Hotspur versus Arsenal line-ups

Tottenham Hotspur
Hugo Lloris, Kieran Trippier, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Moussa Dembele, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.

Petr Cech, Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Skhodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal, Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny, Jack Wilkshere, Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The North-London derby has become bigger in the recent history. Since Tottenham Hotspur joined the top teams and is able to really compete with Arsenal. Some might say the Spurs are ahead of Arsenal at this moment. This gives the derby an extra edge.

We’ve might been a bit spoiled lately, with early goals in big matches. This makes it extra disappointing we didn’t had one in this match. The first half was anything but spectacular. I really don’t remember anything interesting from the first half of this North-London derby. I can imagine the tension will make up for this by the fans of both clubs, but the first half was one to forget for all the neutrals.

The start of the second half was much more interesting. Harry Kane headed a perfect cross from Ben Davies in the goal behind Cech. Arsenal, who were 4 points behind Tottenham and 6 behind the top 4 before this match, really need to come now. Wenger needs to change the park the bus strategy in order to get a result out of this match. Arsenal tries to move forward, but it’s Tottenham with the best chances. In the last couple of minutes it’s Arsenal that tries to score an equaliser, but Lacazette fails to put the ball behind Lloris.

The MOTW Tottenham Hotspur versus Arsenal ends up in a 1-0 win for the home team. Tottenham is still in the race for a top 4 finish. They need to keep winning their matches and hope that Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool will drop points. Man United started today by losing against Newcastle United. The gap between both teams is now just 4 points. What’s your opinion on this match?
