MOTW Arsenal versus Liverpool

The start of this weekend before Christmas kicked off with the match of the week. My MOTW Arsenal versus Liverpool was an absolute stunner of a match. I think every neutral football fan really enjoyed this match as much as I did. In this post I will give a brief summary of this exciting battle.

MOTW Arsenal versus Liverpool line-ups

Arsenal
Petr Cech, Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Granit Xhaka, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Alex Iwobi, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette.

Liverpool
Simon Mignolet, Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan, Andrew Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The Reds completely dominated the first half. It was no surprise that Coutinho opened the score after 26 minutes. The only surprise was that he scored with his head. Salah, Firmino and Mane failed to extend the lead in the remainder of the first half. With a little bit more accuracy the score would have been at least 0-3 for Liverpool. Salah made up for his miss in the beginning of the second half, when he scored the 0-2 on his famous way. He curled the ball with his left foot behind Cech.

One moment of inattention by Joe Gomez, led to the 1-2 by Alexis Sanchez, only a few second after the 0-2. This goal completely changed the match. Liverpool lost their domination and Arsenal believed in a result again. The crowd was pumping and it was one of Arsenal’s worst players with the equaliser. The Swiss’ shot the ball through the middle, but Mignolet looked very clumsy trying to stop it. Another two minutes later it was Lacazette who sneaky passed the ball to Ozil. The German star chipped the ball over Mignolet. Arsenal changed the entire game with three goals in 6 minutes. Bad defending by the Gunners led to another goal by Liverpool. It was Firmino who scored the 3-3.

I told you guys I expected a lot of goals in my betting tips post. Both teams proved they are much stronger in attack than in defence. I really think they need to sort out their defensive problems and both teams need to get a new goalkeeper. Mignolet and Cech aren’t good enough anymore to win a lot of points for their teams.
