We’re heading towards the end of this season and the 2017 Premier League title race has become a 2-horse race. London giants Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are the only two teams left in the race. There is currently a gap of four points between these teams. I think this weekend is going to be a crucial week in the title race.
2017 Premier League title race
Both teams are in good form recently. Spurs looked to be even in a better form, but Chelsea defeated them in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend. So let’s take a look at the schedule for the next few weeks for both teams.
The Blues facing a very tough challenge this weekend. They play on Sunday an away match against Everton. Ronald Koeman’s team is in a good form and they can be a serious threat for Chelsea’s title. The other remaining opponents this season are: Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion, Watford and Sunderland.
For the Spurs this is going to be the most important weekend of this season. They will play the North-London derby on Sunday. Although the Gunners aren’t in a great form, they will do everything they can to keep their arch enemies away from the title. Winning this match can make up a lot of troubles for Arsenal. After this match they still play against: West Ham United, Manchester United, Leicester City and Hull City.
When Chelsea loses against Everton and the Spurs win the North-London derby the gap with decrease to one point. This is the only possible outcome that can bring back the tension in the title race. Chelsea’s remaining schedule is slightly easier, so this is the only remaining serious change for the Spurs to come closer to the first spot. As a neutral football fan I’m really hoping Everton and the Spurs will win their matches, so we’re facing a very interesting end of the season.
