Manchester City versus Tottenham Hotspur

Match of the week: Manchester City versus Tottenham Hotspur

It’s time to discuss this week’s match of the week. Number 5 of the table Manchester City welcomes number 2 Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs have shown quiet a good form in the recent matches, while the Citizens are struggling. Both teams really need to win this match in order to keep an eye on the title. This is my view on Manchester City versus Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City versus Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City
Claudio Bravo, Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi, Aleksander Kolarov, Gael Clichy, Yaya Toure, Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva, Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero

Tottenham Hotspur
Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose, Kevin Wimmer, Victor Wanyama, Christian Eriksen, Moussa Dembele, Dele Alli, Harry Kane.

The start of this match was really interesting. Manchester City dominated from the first kick-off and tried to make an immediate difference in the first half. Although they created some good chances, the Citizens couldn’t put the ball in the net behind Lloris. The Spurs really struggled during the first half and didn’t create a single chance. So both teams went back to the dressing rooms without scoring a goal.

Manchester City didn’t need a lot of time in the second half to score a goal. I must say they needed a little bit of help from the Spurs’ goalkeeper. Lloris wanted to head a ball away from the edge of the penalty box, but he grazed the ball into Sane’s chest. The German midfield player easily shot the ball in the empty goal. A second blunder by Hugo Lloris led to Man City’s second goal. He couldn’t hold on to a cross which gave Kevin de Bruyne the opportunity to score the 2-0. With a 2-0 lead, the home team looked to have secured themselves from winning this match.

I noticed some lose of concentration at the Man City players after the 2-0. This led to a tying goal by Dele Alli. He netted a perfect cross from Kyle Walker. The Spurs started playing with more confidence and the 2-2 was a matter of time. Finally in the 77th minute it was Son who scored after a beautiful attack. After this equaliser it was the home team with the biggest chances for the winning goal. Substitute attacker Gabriel Jesus scored the 3-2, but this goal was declined due to offside.
