Wow what an intense period we’re having behind us. 30 Premier League matches are played since Christmas. From now on it’s going to be a bit more quiet in the Premier League. The next Premier League match is on 14 January. Now it’s all a bit more quiet it’s the perfect time to look back at my match of the week. The match of the week in round 20 is Tottenham Hotspur versus Chelsea. This easily could have been the last opportunity to stop Chelsea from winning the title. After Liverpool’s draw against Sunderland, Chelsea could extend their lead to eight points.

Both teams started somewhat carefull in this match. Home team Spurs really needed to win this match to bring back the excitement in the title race. They controlled posession, but Chelsea was dangerous on the counter attack. In the extra time of the first half it was Christian Eriksen who delivered a perfect cross, Dele Alli scored the first goal of this match with a perfect header.

There was no better time for the Spurs to score the first goal of the match. So, they went back to the dressing room with a major confidence boost. This paid off in the beginning of the second half. Once again it was Christian Eriksen who delivered the perfect cross for Dele Alli to score. Chelsea couldn’t produce any big pressure on the Spurs’ defense for the remainder of this match. Tottenham Hotspur versus Chelsea ended in 2-0 which brings back the excitement in the title race!
