It’s the second weekend of December and we had another interesting fixture in this weekend. I selected Manchester United versus Tottenham Hotspur as my match of the week. This match was the battle between the numbers 5 and 6 of the Premier League table. The Spurs started this match with an six points advantage.
Line-Ups Manchester United versus Tottenham Hotspur
David de Gea, Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Marcus Rojo, Matteo Darmin, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial
Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, Moussa Dembele, Victor Wanyama, Christian Eriksen, Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli, Harry Kane
Both teams aren’t satisfied with their current ranking. So this match was very important for both teams. Man United and the Spurs tried to play forwards in the early stages of this match. This resulted in some minor chances for both teams. It was Harry Kane who lost possession of the ball which gave Herrera the perfect opportunity to put Mkhitaryan one on one with Lloris. The Armenian players netted the ball beautifully. This was the 1-0 in the 29th minute of the match. Spurs hunted for the equaliser but they didn’t find one in the remainder of the first half.
Pochettino brought Moussa Sissoko on in the 57th minute for Son. This made his team more dangerous. He created some good chances for his teammates. Manchester United was almost lethal in the counter attack. Paul Pogba almost scored out of a free kick but the ball touched the post. Manchester United managed to control the second half and really dominated the last twenty minutes of this game. This gave them the three points they deserved. Thanks to the results the Red Devils close the gap with their opponents to three points. It seems like Man United is back on track.
